Three Cups of Tea seems like a very interesting book right off the bat. Though I've only read the first chapter up to this point, the book so far is exciting. It talks about Greg's journey climbing up the mountain K2, and his plans to make a difference in a very dangerous part of the world. As far as expectations for the book club, I hope to have very in depth conversations that will increase my understanding of the text. So much so, that we will be able to have a great presentation of our findings at the end of the semester. Although I didn't get my first choice book, I'm excited to continue reading it.
Breach of Faith sounds like a very interesting book about Hurricane Katrina. I think this book will be about the aftermath of the hurricane and how the city was effected. In the description of the book it talks about police throwing away their badges and joining in the looting of the city. I think it will be a very interesting portrayal of what can happen in disaster situations where laws may not always matter. I think it will also follow many of the different victims from all walks of life that the hurricane effected. I'm excited to read this book and get an inside look at how Hurricane Katrina effected the city of New Orleans.
Five Days at Memorial: Life and Death in a Storm-Ravaged Hospital seems like an intriguing book. Just being able to understand and know what was going on in a hospital in New Orleans during this time is amazing information. A quote on the back said it was hard to put the book down, so I'm pretty excited about that. Overall, I'm just interested in the tales that this book holds.
Breach of Faith has been interesting so far. I think this book will offer people that were not directly affected by Hurricane Katrina a better feel and understanding about what happened. Different media outlets had different accounts of what was happening. I look forward to discussing the book with others and see what other people are getting from the book.
I like your possible outlook on what happen in the book. It would definitely be interesting to see the different media sources outside and within the the disaster zone, I look forward to discussing this with everyone.
Im glad to see you began reading the novel... i will start my reading journey later this weekend. I will sure to come prepared next book club meeting, with my pages highlighted and ready to discuss. I never have the time between other classes to read for pleasure - so unless a class requires to read a novel... im not doing so until summer break. I hope its an enjoyable read though.
It should be cool to relate to with your book since I am reading Five Days At Memorial. It's seems to me that my book could almost follow your book and I could make connections between the two.
Five days at Memorial: Life and death in a storm ravaged hospital sounds like an interesting read. It sounds like it will hold different stories for a variety of characters such as the doctors working tirelessly with the limited resources of whatever remains of the hospital, to the patients looking for loved ones, and so on. The book is roughly 500 pages, and something interesting is bound to capture an eye.
Breach of Faith is a true story about Hurricane Katrina that hit Louisiana in 2005. I assume it is about the negative and positve effects it had on it's society as a whole. The things people had to do to survive whether they were legal or not.
Breach of Faith... a nonfiction story about Hurrican Katrina. I have yet to begin to read the book but I believe it discusses the aftermath of the hurrican and the life-altering effects it had on it's community members. I can only imagine what might be reported (bodies in the water, looting, etc.).
3 cups of Tea has been a good book so far. I had previous heard of the story but didn't read the book until now. Mortenson's journey to reach his goals in foreign territory has been something that has caught my interest. From what I have heard the book and the other faced much scrutiny after the book came out but I will for my own opinions
Unfortunately I haven’t really started reading the book because I haven’t received the book yet but I’ve done a little bit of research on the book and like what I hear about it. It’s hard for me to put expectations on the book since I’m a bit behind and haven’t really read it yet but I like my group and I think we can put together a good presentation when the time comes and look forward to reading the book when I finally get it.
